The TORCH consortium is actively engaged in building capacity for Tuberculosis research in low-income countries. In 2017, the consortium was awared a VLIR-UOS grant for capacity building in Ethiopia. One year later, in 2018, the TORCH consortium was part of another awarded VLIR-UOS grant for capacity building in Peru, under promotorship of Chris Delgado Ratto from the Global Health Insitute, UAntwerp. Whole Genome Sequencing is the key to regain control of the Tuberculosis epidemic. Therefore, it is our duty and repsonsibility to make sure that low income countries, with a high tuberculosis burden, have the necessary tools and expertise to combat the disease.
